Okay, here's my step by step description. Note that this assumes Fedora 20. If you are on Windows this will be much easier (the drivers are built-in). If you are using a Mac it will be much more difficult (you need to compile Cardpeek ). If you are using a different Linux distribution, it will be different:

1. Buy a smart card reader. I have a small IOGEAR on Amazon for under $ 20.

2. Installed drivers, if they are not in your OS (in Windows they are, as well as many in Linux distributions). For Fedora, you need these two RPMs that are not available in the Fedora repositories:
https://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=pcsc-lite-ccid
RPM resource pcsc-lite

3. Install Cardpeek. It is included in the Fedora repositories (but the required drivers are not present), so you should be able to yum install cardpeek (I did it through the GUI). For other operating systems it is here if it is not in your repositories: http://pannetrat.com/Cardpeek/

4. Launch Cardpeek and select the reader you want to use.

5. Insert the card.

6. Click Analyzer, then EMV, then click Yes.

7. Review the results. By default, it shows English interpretation of raw data to switch between English and raw data.
