Many people start cleaning their smartphone only when it starts to glitch. Android is not the same as it was a few years ago, and it no longer requires constant maintenance, but it is still worth cleaning the system from time to time. And don't underestimate the cleanliness and order in it - it can really extend the life of your device.

The trick is to find an app that fulfills its own promises. After all, if this is not the case, then at best it takes up extra space on your device, and at worst it can infect viruses, delete personal data, or simply fill up everything with ads. However, not all Android cleaning apps are useless, and we'll show you the ones that are worth checking out.

1. Files by Google

The official file Manager from Google is easy to use and worth a try first. Launch the app and click on the tabClear the bottom.

Next, the app will show you several areas where you can free up excess memory. For example, junk files, duplicate files, photo backups, and unused apps. Tap on one of the areas to see what exactly is taking up the most space, decide what you want to delete, and let the app take care of it.

You can also use the tabBrowseto view the entire file system and manually check everything in more detail.

As you'll see later, manual cleaning mode is enabled in many apps, but RAM optimization and other redundant features are also enabled. Files is one of the best solutions if you need a lightweight system cleaning app that doesn't have anything extra in it.

2. Droid Optimizer

Droid Optimizer is one of the most popular Android system cleaner apps with over a million downloads from the Google Play Store. It is easy to use, especially for beginners, with an explanation window about all the requested permissions and functions used.

It also offers a "rating system" - designed to motivate you to follow the order. If, of course, you don't mind your device instilling good habits in you, then Droid Optimizer is the best choice for you.

All you need to clear your device is a single tap. Next, you will see statistics at the top of the screen; permanent and RAM memory are displayed next to your "rating", where you are awarded points for each system cleanup.

Droid Optimizer also allows you to configure and enable regular, automatic system cleaning once. This mode clears the cache, closes background apps, and deletes unused files. Then there's the "good Night planner" mode, which saves energy by disabling features like WiFi When not in use.

There is another useful feature that Droid Optimizer provides. UsingBy mass deleting apps, you can quickly free up a lot of space on your device.

Droid Optimizer isn't the nicest app, but it works. And if you need the best Android app that you'll bother setting up, but then forget about cleaning the system yourself-this is the perfect choice.

Download Droid Optimizer (Free, with in-app purchases).

3. CCleaner

CCleaner, a well-known desktop app, is now available for Android as well. This is a multi-functional application that is great for cleaning your system of junk files that take up precious space. Its main function is to clear the application cache, delete empty folders and browser history.

It includesAn application Managerthat provides a simple and user-friendly interface for mass removal of applications. And finally, the functionSystem information allows you to view data about the system (as well as processor, RAM, and device data).

It doesn't require root access and is almost completely free (you can sign up for a Pro subscription to get some extras).

Download CCleaner (Free, Pro subscription available).

4. All-In-One Toolbox

Cleaning the system of unnecessary files is not everything. How about monitoring battery health, CPU temperature, or getting rid of annoying ads? An app appropriately named All-In-One Toolbox will take care of all of this.

It can clear the system of temporary files and cache. Clear all empty folders and lost files after deleting apps. It scans your entire device with one tap, then deletes it with another, and the job is done. It's the same with other app modes.

Boost mode clears the system cache and stops running background apps in two clicks. If you want, you can activate Boost+ by making this mode automatic, but you will already need to subscribe.

If your battery is running low, then there is a Battery Saver mode, which also stops background apps from working, and also shows battery usage statistics.

If this is not enough for you, then there is also a mass deletion function, in-depth cleaning and monitoring of the WiFi network. As the name suggests-All-In-One Toolbox does all of this. It also offers, like Droid Optimizer, a rating system to evaluate the use of the app.

Download All-In-One Toolbox (Free, internal purchases) or All-in-One Toolbox Pro ($16.15).

5. SD Maid

SD Maid is at your service to clean your Android device. When you open the app, you will immediately see four functions for "quick cleaning" in the system.

  • CorpseFinder scans and cleans the system of all lost files and empty folders after deleting applications.
  • SystemCleaner searches for unnecessary system files and folders that can be safely deleted.
  • AppCleaner does the same thing, but in the installed app directories.
  • Databases optimizes the databases of used applications (in our experience, it freed up about 40 MB from the Spotify database).
In addition, it includes the functionScan your storage, helping you find and delete large files, as well as the featureMass removal of apps.

SD Maid is one of the simplest yet most powerful cleaning apps, and it comes with a very nice price tag.

Download SD Maid (Free, internal purchases) or SD Maid Pro (3.57$)

6. Norton Clean

Except for CCleaner (which is owned by Avast) - none of the above-mentioned applications are products from top security companies. The search for the best system cleaning app can't do without Norton Clean, the younger brother of Symantec's Norton Antivirus.

Norton promises to end the clutter on your device. Just like the previous ones, it will scan and clear the cache, delete all unnecessary files and unused applications. The app Manager will offer you a list of all installed apps, sort them by frequency of use, installation date, and space taken up.

Just like the previous ones, it's just great. But compared to the rest, it has the cleanest and brightest interface. Everything you need is nearby, and you don't need to be an advanced user to figure it out.

It is quite basic in terms of the number of functions and has built-in advertising for other Norton applications. But it is completely free and there are no internal purchases.

Warning about Background processes
Many Android cleaning apps offer the function of cleaning RAM and stopping background processes, such as CCleaner, for example. But this is not always a good thing, because stopping background processes can harm your system.

Maxing out RAM isn't a problem for Android, but rather is necessary to increase performance. Yes, and Android is now smart enough to manage threads efficiently and maintain high-level performance. And interfering with this process can break the integrity of the system and only slow down its operation.

Also, apps should not affect battery life. If they do, the system should notify you about it. And you can extend the battery life by using standard Android tools, rather than third-party apps.

These apps are very useful for cleaning up the system, but not for monitoring its operation. After all, Android devices have become much more powerful, and Android itself is getting better and copes well without auxiliary solutions.

Keep your Android clean and tidy
For most modern Android users, regular cleaning isn't necessary, but it can help your device perform better. And Yes, your device should work well without it. Most Android devices are equipped with enough RAM and permanent memory to install and store anything you want.

However, as we said, if your device has started to perform worse, then cleaning it up can help. If you find this article useful, feel free to share it with your friends or on social media.
