Clones of the popular WhatsApp messenger have begun to appear in app stores for Android smartphones, calling it an “improved” version. It is reported by The Sun with reference to the official representatives of the messenger.
The authors of such applications offer supposedly exclusive features compared to the regular WhatsApp application. In fact, these programs contain a virus designed to monitor the actions of users.
The article says that if you use such applications, then there is no guarantee that private messages or personal data will be safe and remain private.
WhatsApp representatives said they would block users who downloaded such an application. Google explained that they are already aware of the problem and are removing dangerous clones from the app store.
