The world's largest producer of soft drinks Coca-Cola has confirmed the fact of a cyber attack on its computer networks. The company is currently cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation of the incident.

The US beverage giant launched an investigation after cybercriminal group Stormous said it successfully hacked into some of the company's servers and stole 161GB of data.

According to Bleeping Computer, the attackers published the stolen data on their data breach site and demanded a ransom of 1.65 bitcoins (approximately $64,000). The stolen data includes compressed documents, text files, email, passwords, ZIP archives of accounts and payments, and other sensitive information.

This is the first time Stormous has released a stolen dataset. The group had previously asked their followers to vote on who would be their next victim. The hackers promised to carry out a DoS attack, hacking, leaking the source code of the software and client data. Coca-Cola won the poll with 72% of the vote. According to the criminals, it took them only a few days to break into the company.
