Seattle’s authorities have issued an indictment against a Kazakh citizen who is accused of a series of cybercrimes. According to the document, the 37-year-old Andrei Turchin participated in attacks on government agencies, schools, banks and hotels.

Turchin is known in a cybercrime environment under the pseudonym “fxmsp”. Victims of attacks in which the Kazakhstani took part are in the hundreds. The geography of the campaigns is also striking - the goals of criminals are located on six continents.

Prosecutors believe that Andrei Turchin lives in Kazakhstan, at present he should be aware of the investigation of his criminal activities. Law enforcement officers expect to soon arrest Turchin and send him to the United States.

Seattle’s authorities do not currently know whether the accused has secured the support of a lawyer, but he still has to face the charges of US prosecutors.

It is known that the FBI was engaged in the identification of the cybercriminal, to the assistance of which the UK National Crime Agency and the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan were involved.

Also, the activity of fxmsp was investigated by Group-IB, which devoted a whole report to the cybercriminal . According to experts, Turchin and accomplices sold access to the networks of organizations in hacker forums. In total, the group managed to earn at least $ 1.5 million.
According to the indictment, the attackers modified the settings of the antiviruses installed in the organizations in order to avoid detection in the system. Turchin can face up to 20 years in prison.
